In Far North Queensland in 2019 an unprecedented heat wave hit the region with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees celsius causing bats (flying foxes) to drop to the ground with heat exhaustion, killing thousands. Such events are anticipated as a direct result of climate change and global warming.
